USMC FLIGHT CREW MEMORIAL

A memorial honoring the over 800 Marines who were killed as crew members or passangers on Marine Helicopters in the Vietnam War. 

Location: To be determined.  Possibilities include the National Museum of the Marine Corps, Quantico, Virginia and the Flying Leatherneck Museum, San Diego, California

A group of sculptures created as studies in the development of the Stephen W. Pless Memorial project.
 

 
HML 167  MEMORIAL

A memorial honoring the members of Marine Light Helicopter Squadron 167 who were killed in action in Vietnam and Laos.

KARL RICHTER
MINIATURE MEMORIAL

Air Force Cross  1942-1967

Created as a study for the US Air Force Academy Mall of Heroes Project, 2006. 

Bust and memorial pedestal of Richter in clay to be cast as a signed numbered edition by Jenelle Armstrong Byrd

7.5"  high

Completed sculpture will be similar to the sculpture Benavidez.

Karl Richter was killed in action on his 198th combat mission over North Vietnam and at the time of his death he was already a legend among USAF fighter pilots for his courage, skill, and dedication.

 

   
 

 

LANCE SIJAN

Sijan in clay to be cast as
a signed numbered edition
by Jenelle Armstrong Byrd

7.5"  high
Completed sculpture will be similar to the sculpture Benavidez.

Created as a study for the US Air Force Academy Mall of Heroes Project, 2006.

Sijan died as a POW and was awarded the Medal of Honor for resisting North Vietnamese torture inspiring his fellow prisoners to do the same.   He is the only graduate of the  Academy to receive the MOH.
